Over the years, Chevrolet has released several Monte Carlo models based on their NASCAR drivers: a Dale Earnhardt “Intimidator Edition”, a Jeff Gordon edition and a Dale Jr. edition.
The Intimidator was initially released in 2002 and re-released as the Intimidator SS in 2004. The 2004 edition was all black with “Intimidator” badges on the trunk lid and both side panels of the vehicle. Another Intimidator badge was placed on the interior dash and Earnhardt’s signature appeared on the gauge cluster. The Intimidator SS came with 5-spoke diamond-cut wheels and was powered by GM’s L67 Supercharged 3800 V6 engine.
The Intimidator SS featured here was born in Oshawa, Ontario Canada in March 2004. It is production number 2,978 of 4,000. The current owner is the second owner of this well preserved Monte Carlo. He acquired this Intimidator SS in July of 2012, with only 45,000 miles on the car. The owner reports that they got an awesome deal on the Intimidator SS as the Dealer did not know what it was. The owner got a big surprise when he found the original Certificate of Authenticity and the Monroney sticker, Consumer Information sticker, Owners Manual, and Owners Manual CD all located under the front passenger seat.
