The Ford Galaxie XL was the top-of-the-line sports model Galaxie in 1969. Only the Galaxie LTD has higher, but the LTD had more of a focus on luxury. The whole Galaxie line was moved to a new platform for 1969, which represented the fourth generation of the Galaxie. For more about the Galaxie, see the post on the 1969-1970 Ford Galaxie.
The Car featured here is a rare 1969 Ford Galaxie XL Fastback. The fastback is what Ford called the sportsroof with side sail panels that mimicked the outline of a fastback. This XL has spent most of its life in Arizona. It car is mostly original. It proudly wears 40 years of dents and dings. It is not a show winner, but it will turn heads. The XL has hideaway headlights, a rare find on a 1969. Like the exterior, the interior shows is age with pride. The XL is powered by Ford’s 351 Windsor engine with a Holley 650 carburetor and Edelbrock intake and valve covers. The car has the rare automatic FMX 3 speed column shift transmission. A true beauty.
