With the the third generation El Camino being introduced in 1968, the 1969 model was little changed from 1968. The third generation model was based on the 1968 Chevrolet Chevelle 116 inch wheel base used on for station wagons and four-door sedan which gave the El Camino an overall length of 208 inches. The third generation El Camino shared Chevelle Malibu exterior and interior trims.
1969 Chevrolet El Camino
The 1969 El Camino received a restyled front-end that was more-rounded that the 1968 model. The front-end featured single chrome bar connected quad headlights and a slotted bumper held the parking lights. On the inside, the instrument panel was revised with round instrument pods replaced the former linear design. Chevrolet offered a new engine option. the 350 cubic inch V8. Engine options for the Super Sport included 396 cubic inch V8 rated at either a 265 or 325 horsepower. beneath a double-domed hood, along with a black-out grille displaying an SS emblem. The 396 engine was also available in 350 or 375 horsepower versions. Other options included power windows and locks.
